Photographer Lalange Snow’s Photographs Expose The Ugly Impact War Has On Soldiers
In her “We Are The Not Dead” series, Photographer Snow decided to dedicate a series of photos that would expose the effect of the Afghanistan war had on fourteen British soldiers. The photos were taken over a course of a 7 month period in which before, during, and post war portraits were taken.
Her purpose was to show how these people’s faces started to change during their exposure to violence and war. What she found is disturbing…
The physical change you are able to see is directly connected with the emotional burden that was experienced by the soldiers. Men and women on active duty are sometimes required to detach themselves from their emotions. The photographer’s intentions were to show the courage shown by the soldiers and to also raise public awareness of the psychological emotions that WILL change every soldier in their country’s nation.
