Costco’s E.Coli Has Been Tracked, Walmart, Safeway And Starbucks Have Been Affected

The source of the E.Coli outbreak was tracked down to seven states and has been traced to a single ingredient that is found in Costco’s rotisserie chicken salad: their diced celery.
The FDA reports that the ingredient was traced to the Taylor Farms Pacific of Tracy, California.
They have issued a recall for the items that may contain the tainted celery. The products in which the supplies were sold at huge chain stores like: 7-Eleven, Safeway, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Target, and Starbucks.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this strain/version of E. coli is even more dangerous than the outbreak in the Chipotle scandal, as it can lead to instant kidney failure.
From these products, 19 people have been infected with the disease in California, Colorado, Missouri, Montana, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.
Although no deaths have been reported so far, 5 people have been hospitalized, 2 have developed a severe type of kidney failure known as hemolytic uremic syndrome. These victims had eaten Costco’s rotisserie chicken salad in the week before they became ill.
Costco has removed all remaining rotisserie chicken salad from all stores in the US and stopped further production of the product until further notice.
