I always want my kitchen sink to be spotless and shiny. The thing that annoys me most is when I see those annoying hard water stains on the sink, around the faucet and just everywhere. I try to clean the sink from time to time and not allow hard water buildup, but the truth is that it’s difficult to always find the time. Those who can will probably say you shouldn’t have brought your sink to this condition in the first place, but when you don’t have the time and the water quality is as it is in your area, there’s really not much what to do. You clean it when you can and it’s usually a long and tedious process. Scrubbing and scrubbing with all these chemicals and still you may end up feeling unsatisfied with the results.
You can’t imagine my joy when I found this 1 ingredient recipe from Crouton Crackerjacks which promised to do wonders for your sink and faucet. I was skeptical at first, but it guaranteed to restore the sink in its previous mint condition so I decided to give it a shot. You’ll be amazed just as I was at how powerful this homemade cleaner is
All you need for this awesome cleaning trick is some generic cheap 5% white vinegar and an old cloth and that’s it. Pour the vinegar in a bowl and dip your cloth in it. Make sure your sink is completely dry for this procedure because you don’t want the water to dilute the effect of the vinegar. Take your soaked cloth and wrap it around the faucet and around all the spots with hard water build up You can use multiple cloths and apply them all in the same time or you can use the same just do it gradually, first one part, then the next etc., whichever is more convenient for you. Make sure you cover all the parts and you can pour some more vinegar over the cloth just to make sure it’s well soaked. Leave the cloth on for an hour or so and then remove it. Take an old kitchen sponge (one that’s a bit worn out) and use the green part to scrub around the cracks and nicks. If your sink is in real bad shape you might need to repeat the process once more just to remove the hardest stains. After you’re done dry out the sink and admire its shine. It’s brought your messy sink back to its former sparkling glory.
That’s how easy it is to clean hard water buildup from your sink and faucet. Believe me, I was skeptical too, but when you try it you’ll never clean your sink in any other way.
